As of October 1, 2018, there is a new program for Letters of Suitability. This is for all of the Boston Province (Archdiocese of Boston and the Dioceses of Fall River, Manchester, Portland, Burlington, Worcester, and Springfield).

Please see the attached documents for an explanation and directions on this new program.

February 2019


Post Convocation Focus Group Three: Ideological/Generational Differences met on February 19, 2019. Below is a summary report of the meeting. The group highlighted five action points that will be developed at future meetings.

October 2018


At the end of the Cultivating Unity convocation  five key areas for follow-up were identified and those in attendance were invited to sign up to be part of a focus group to discuss next steps. The attached document lists the groups and the names of the priests who signed up to work on them. It is still possible to volunteer. Once again, I would like to thank you for your commitment and support throughout the Cultivating Unity Convocation process.

Marriage Dispensations – Permission for Place

On March 1, 2017, a letter was sent out to all Clergy in regards to a policy change within the Diocese of Springfield for Permission for Place of Marriage. Attached you will find the original letter, as well as an updated version that streamlines the Policies and Protocols required for submitting an application for Permission for Place.
