After a two-year study of priesthood and ministry, theologians and ministers at Boston College issue a statement calling for a serious reconsideration of how candidates for the priesthood receive their theological and pastoral preparation.

Fr. Warren Savage believes it is an excellent report for reflection and study at deanery gatherings.

Deacon James McElroy gave this homily last Sunday (22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time) on the clergy sexual abuse crisis in light of the gospel.

This homily is one example of the power of preaching to help our people to remain faithful to Jesus and their baptismal identity – to be the light of Christ in times of darkness.

I am sharing another interesting and timely resource from Sojourners to be shared with our deacons and priests. The video is worth watching. It will provoke deep thought, reflection and prayer for those committed to preaching the gospel in truth and love. I recommend the resources for Bible Study and the Civil Discourse Five-Week Curriculum at ReclaimingJesus.org.

A FREE webinar series for lay ministers, sponsored by the Catholic Apostolate Center. Topics include spiritual self care, building resilience, and increasing your stress tolerance.  I recommend the series for priests and deacons as well.

Starts June 5. Presentations are recorded for viewing on-demand, anytime.

I recommend the new Lumen Christi Institute Podcast. I like the variety of topics presented and thought this would be another wonderful resource to add to the website for deacons and priests to explore. Again, these resources can be used for personal enrichment or discussion with a group of deacons and priests at a deanery meeting.
