Humility in Eucharistic Ministry and Devotion

Neither the priest who consecrates nor the deacon who serves at the altar is a worthy minister of Christ, who willingly humbles Himself in love for His people. Celebration of the Eucharist and continuing devotion offer clergy an opportunity to participate in the humble nature of our Lord.

Rev. David Songy, O.F.M.Cap., S.T.D., Psy.D., explores the connection between sacramental identity of priests and deacons and its practical expression in the celebration of the Eucharist and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.

Update to Covid-19 Protocols

Effective May 29, 2021

There have been many questions regarding new CDC guidance and how various dioceses are implementing them. The Diocese of Springfield is following the recommendations of our Metropolitan See – the Archdiocese of Boston and the Commonwealth. To that end, Gov. Baker intends to rescind mask wearing and fully reopen the state on May 29th. (see diocesan directives.)

Affected By Covid-19

What to do if your rectory, parish, school or agency test(s) positive

The diocese has a paid consultant who will work with any parish, school, or agency affected by COVID-19. He will also work with the health department of your city or town in determining if a positive test will affect worship or other activities.

If a priest tests positive, please call our consultant, Mr. Bob Kirchherr, immediately at (413) 788-6222. He will ask you a number of questions and will also guide you in the steps you will need to take.

Please let your dean know as well. The dean will help get coverage for your parish.

It is hard to believe that we just marked the one-year anniversary since we were told that our parishes would close for two weeks…Everything you have known and done as routine is no longer; we now have a “new normal” and will never get back to what our “normal” was.
